The Barn

An addition to an existing DCD home, The Barn was a Design & Build project that expanded the home’s presence and allowed for guest entertaining and a guest suite.

The Great Room in the Barn is fully self contained, with laundry, kitchen and bathroom.

The internal linings are a combination of virgin and reclaimed Rimu. The reclaimed Rimu came from a home DCD were renovating.

With triple glazed windows, ventilation and airtightness at the top of the list, the building performs with space heating provided by a single panel heater, and has the ability to be warmed off-grid with the use of the airtight Bionic Fire.

The Workshop caters to both storage and woodworking, with a loft above for use as and office or studio space for creative pursuits.
