In a true alpine setting, this 1970’s south-east facing home in Fernhill was in desperate need of a 21st century makeover. While aesthetics and functionality were important, the priority was to create a thermally efficient, airtight, warm home with open plan living, separate office/yoga room, 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms upstairs, with garage and self-contained studio downstairs.

Interior linings were removed to make way for superior insulation, ensuring year-round comfort. Single glazed windows were replaced with triple glazed timber aluminium joinery for optimum performance. The home was also reclad in certified renewable Abodo Vulcan in a charred finish. Kickspace hydronic central heating provides energy efficient year-round comfort. The result is a warm, unique and inviting home that will stand the test of time.
