As you age, you feel the cold more acutely, and so we focused on creating an incredibly warm home. With a fixed budget, we also needed to maximise the floor space, and by utilising Aridon 90mm framing that has an R-value nearly identical to a 190mm section, we created an additional 14m2 of internal space, without increasing the quantity of concrete or roof required.

A simple design has allowed for added spending on designer finishes, expansive glazing and cedar and schist elements. An integrated Bosch heat pump underfloor heating warms from the ground up and the integrated hot water supply system makes efficient use of the energy input. Superior insulation creates an airtight environment that keeps the warmth in. This beautiful home stays extra cosy in winter with incredibly low heating costs.

Insulation extends to the garage and garage door with its ply-lined walls, making this a super-usable space year-round. Negative detailing to the garage door ties in with the front entrance, which opens to a mudroom, serving the needs of the outdoorsy owners.
